No Sweat

Have you ever caught yourself taking on burdens that God never intended you to carry? Have you found yourself sweating bullets over things that are outside of your control? I think we all have at times. God’s heart is that we would live a worry and anxiety-free life!

The Bible refers to us as kings and priests unto God. It is interesting to me that the priests were not to perspire when they were on duty.

Eze 44:17 When they enter the gates of the inner court, they are to wear linen clothes; they must not wear any woolen garment while ministering at the gates of the inner court or inside the temple. 18 They are to wear linen turbans on their heads and linen undergarments around their waists. They must not wear anything that makes them perspire.

If I were preaching right now, I would yell out, “Somebody say ‘No Sweat!” :-) So often, we carry burdens that God never intended for us to carry. Apostle Peter wrote, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1Pet 5:7

Take a moment to assess things that you have been carrying. Are you allowing life situations to weigh you down? Has anxiety crept its way into your heart? I love the words the Holy Spirit wrote through the apostle Paul.

Phil 4:6-9 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brothers, and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

He said, “Do not be anxious about anything.” I think anything means – anything! Oh, the wonder of a carefree life! How beautiful it is to be able to trust God and any and all circumstances! I promise you – he is trustworthy! He brought you this far; can you trust him to take you the rest of the way?

The antidote to a life of anxiety is choosing to set your mind on what God says is true. The truth of God is all about you being loved, forgiven, and free! The truth of God will give you the power to set your mind on things that are pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. We must choose to set our minds on these kinds of things!
