Outrageously Amazing
On August 7, 1974, God revealed to me that I was lost and without him. That night, the stark reality of an eternity separated from the love of God became very real! This revelation changed my whole life because that very night, at 9 PM, I surrendered my life to Christ and became a new creation in him. Though my life radically changed from that point on, it would be 20 years from that moment for a genuine revelation of God’s love to really begin to sink in. Even now, the most significant and most important growth of my life is the increasing revelation of who I am in Christ and, even more importantly, who Christ is in me.
The magnificence of God’s love towards us is astounding! In the Bible, the whole book of Romans is devoted to breaking down the incredible love and grace of God. Apostle Paul spends the first 11 chapters definitively describing how our relationship with God is not based upon our works but on God’s grace. At the end of the 11th chapter, he says something so profound that most miss it.
Rom 11:32-36 “For God has bound all men over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.”
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” “Who has ever given to God that God should repay him?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.
Those words are astonishing! The depth of the riches, wisdom, and knowledge of God is revealed in God binding all men over to disobedience so that he can have mercy on them all. Wow! The love, wisdom, and justice of God bound all men over to disobedience because only his eternal love could save us and perfect us!
John 3:16 God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever would believe in him would not perish but have everlasting life.
Everything wonderful and beautiful in our lives comes from God, is through God, and is ultimately to God! There are no words to adequately describe how unbelievably beautiful and wonderful he is! Indeed, our God is more amazing than anyone could ever fully comprehend! He alone is the source for a life of true worth and fulfillment!
The pursuit of fully comprehending the beauty and wonder of God is exciting and life-giving, but tapping out its depths is impossible because its immensity is inexhaustible. At some point, the most rigorous pursuant, though tenaciously seeking its depths, will find themselves left hanging in the sheer wonder of the limitless oceans of blissful reality that their tiny teaspoon was unable to hold. Those who go deep will ultimately find themselves left with only one option, and that is to humbly bow in total surrender to the overwhelming vastness of His outrageous love! And I promise you – this is the life worth living!
My dear friend, my heart’s prayer for you is that God would grant to you a new and powerful experience of his outrageous love for you! May the knowledge of his love become so dominant in your heart and mind that you live in complete confidence that God is working everything out for your good!
I believe that today is your day for new intimacy with your loving, heavenly Father! Today’s your day to surrender more fully to his love for you! May you be so overwhelmed by his love today that you would reciprocate his love back to him by offering your life wholly to him!
