THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST

THOSE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD Part 19

"Those who know their God will be strong and do great things." Dan 11:32

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

Today we are going to switch gears. Instead of discussing what people do who know God, we will discuss what people do TO know God. In other words, what makes a person know God. One of the most missed truths of the Word of God is found in Romans 10:9-10, which says, "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."

It is important to note that this is speaking of the beginning of Christianity. At the beginning of Christianity is a surrender to the truth of God's word. The first ingredient of a genuine relationship with God is a surrender and declaration of Jesus Christ as Lord. What does that mean? It means that above all else, a person chooses to put their life in God's hands and trust him completely. Even though their faith is small at this point, they decide to surrender entirely to God's leadership.

Lordship is not something that happens down the road after they grow. No! It is the very beginning of Christianity! The Greek word used for Lord is kyrios and means supreme authority. When a person has received the truth of God's precious love and his payment for their sin, they choose to say yes to God no matter what he says. Not only does he become supreme authority but the ultimate source for all that they need. He becomes their Savior, healer, deliver, provider, friend, and so much more!

The most essential part of Lordship is the choice to renounce all self-righteousness and fully accept the freedom of the righteousness granted to the blood of Jesus. If there is one place where Christians have gone off track, it is the place of Lordship. To grow in God, a person must fully surrender to the leading of God. Jesus cannot be the Lord of one's life as long as they are still calling the shots. Complete surrender to God and his word is nonnegotiable. A person must say yes to God even before they know what he's going to say. Those who have received the precious love of God know that they can trust that God's ways are best. These are the kind of Christians that flourish in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

So what does a person do to know God? The first thing they do is give God his rightful place in their life – Lord of all! So, my dear friend, here is the question; is Jesus the Lord of your life? Have you completely surrendered to the word of God? Do you have a yes Lord in your heart even before God speaks? Are you willing to do whatever he says to you? I guarantee you, the person who will intimately know God is the person who has surrendered to…
