ALL ABOUT SOULS

THOSE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD Part 56

“Those who know their God will be strong and do great things.” Dan 11:32

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

So far in our studies, we have learned that those who want to know God are surrender to the truth of God’s word, they believe and seek God, and they live totally devoted to God. Those who are totally devoted to God are all about God, all about prayer, all about worship, all about the kingdom of God, and all about the purpose of the kingdom of God. We have determined that those who are all about the purpose of the kingdom of God are all about love, all about the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, and all about intimacy with God.

How wonderful it is to know that not only can we be intimate with God but that our intimacy with him is his greatest desire! Wow! That is so incredible to me! On top of that, our intimacy with God has nothing to do with our works – it only is about our faith! Thank you, so cute! Thank you, Jesus!

Today I want to begin discussing another part of being all about the purpose of the kingdom of God – souls. God is all about souls because God is all about people! You may ask the question, why is God all about souls? Why do you use the term souls? I’m glad you asked! First of all, we must determine what the term soul means. The word soul comes from the Greek word psyche and speaks of your inner self; your heart, mind, and will. It is psychological faculty that animates and distinguishes you from others. Simply put, your soul is your mind, will, and your emotions.

The subject of your soul is so important that Jesus addressed it by saying, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew11:28-30 Apostle Peter gives us a deeper understanding of the importance of the soul when he said, “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9

In other words, the whole purpose of your faith is the salvation of your soul – your mind, will, and emotions. This is why Jesus said, “But I have come that they might have life and have it to its fullest.” John 10:10b

Your ability to love being you is all about the state of your soul. In the Scripture above, Jesus was declaring that he wanted you to love being you! The Greek word for life is the word zoe, and it speaks of the life that you love living. The beer company called Miller has advertised that their beer brought the highlife. Their terminology would mirror the meaning of the word Zoe or life. As you know, beer or alcohol is not what gives a person abundant life! God alone is the avenue to the life you’ve always wanted – the abundant life of heaven!

So why is God all about souls? It’s because God’s great desire is for you to experience his life both now and throughout eternity! That is why Peter said that the goal of your faith is the salvation of your soul. Make sure you don’t miss tomorrow because I will be breaking down how the salvation of the soul happens.

God came to deliver us from fear, anxiety, condemnation, failure, oppression, depression, and the like. Yes! God came to give us his abundant life – the very life he lives in! I pray that this Encouraging Note has increased your understanding of why your soul is so important to God and why those who are all about the purpose of the kingdom of God are…
