THOSE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD Part 39

“Those who know their God will be strong and do great things.” Dan 11:32

WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

Knowing God is what Christianity is all about! What God has granted to us through Jesus Christ is wonderful beyond comprehension! It is crazy that God is in love with us and wants to share life with us! God wants intimate time with us because he longs to download into us the glory of who he is! People who want to know God are all about prayer because prayer is communion with God. Prayer is not a duty; it is the door of oneness with God.

The prophet, Daniel, was known as a man of prayer. Those who were trying to destroy Daniel’s life knew that the only way they could get at him was through his belief in God. Since Daniel prayed every day to God, those who were out to get him used that against him. Even though the king’s proclamation was devised that made it a crime to pray to any other God but the king, Daniel continued to pray as always.

Daniel 6:10  Now, when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day, he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.

Daniel knew that the punishment for disobeying the king’s edict was the lion’s den. But Daniel was not moved! He was confident that God was able to make everything work out for his good, and indeed, it did work out in his favor. Not only did the lions not hurt him, but those very lions also became the destruction of all those who had come against him.

Daniel 6:24-28  At the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.  25 Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language in all the earth:   “May you prosper greatly!  26 “I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. “For he is the living God, and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end.  27 He rescues, and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.” 28 So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus, the Persian.

Daniel had a real connection with God! The only way to truly get to know someone is to communicate with them. Interestingly, we have no record of Jesus teaching his disciples to preach, but we have plenty of Scriptures of Jesus teaching them to pray. Prayer is so essential that apostle Paul said we should “pray continually.” 1Thessalonians 5:17

My dear partner in Christ, how is your prayer life? Are you connecting with God? Your communion with God through prayer will determine how intimate you become with him! One thing you can be sure of; those who want to know God are…
