WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

The thought that God chose us to be in him before creating the world is staggering! Not only did he choose us, but his desire was to present us to himself as those who are holy and blameless. Wow! Take a close look at these Scriptures.

Ephesians 1:4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.

Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless

Jesus gave himself up for the church to make her holy and blameless in his sight. It wasn’t something we were going to accomplish but rather something he has already accomplished. How incredible! God never wanted us to try to present ourselves to him! His great desire was to make all necessary preparations so that he could present us to himself as a beautiful bride without stain, wrinkle, or any other kind of blemish – yes, holy and blameless! Wow! Can you get a grip on that?

Paul went on to say, “In love, he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. Ephesians 1:5-7

God’s amazing love for us caused him to predestine us (preplan our destiny) to be his very own. Do you know that you are included in the family of God? You are royalty – you are God’s child! Not because you have done anything right or wrong but simply because you have believed! God preplanned us to be his very own children because that was his pleasure and will – his great desire! Verse one of the same chapter says that “God has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3b

To understand God’s great mission, you must understand his great passion. God’s passion is people! He is radically in love with you and me! Do you believe that? Do you feel loved by him? Your feelings are a direct reflection of your most dominant thoughts. If you change the way you think, it will change the way you feel. Your feelings are like fuel for your car. They are not your car; they just make your car go. Your feelings are what animate you! Thoughts inspire feelings, and therefore what you think determines how far you can go.

Through Jesus Christ, God has lavished his love and grace upon you with all wisdom and understanding. He is completely and totally in love with you! Those who know their God are those who are all about the purpose of God’s kingdom. The most important purpose of God’s kingdom is people – souls! Is it sinking into you how much you are loved?
