WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

The more I know of God, the more I can envision a better me. At times I still experience worry, anxiety, frustration, hurt, and depression. But inside of Christ, none of that exists! All of those things are outside of faith and are not God’s plan for us. When I walk in what God has provided for me, it is a life that defies description! The old song says, “Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to take Him at His word; Just to rest upon His promise; Just to know, Thus saith the Lord. Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him, How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er, Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus! O for grace to trust Him more.” Yes, that’s my heart’s cry; Just to trust him more!

What so powerful about the gospel is that its provision is for sinners! Yes! God’s grace is for you and me!

Ephesians 2:4-10 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Scriptures like this make me want to shout from the rooftops! It wasn’t because God liked us a little bit and thought he would help out those poor souls.  No! It was because of his great love for us! It was because he is super rich in mercy! He isn’t filthy rich because there isn’t anything filthy about him – he is just rich – rich in mercy! Thank you, Jesus! God’s mercy didn’t come for us after we got our act together. No! It came when we were dead in our sins – without life and far from him! Somebody once said, “From the gutter-most to the uttermost.” Hallelujah!

God has (past tense) seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus! Why did he do that? It was so that throughout all eternity, he could show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. Get out here! Oh Yes! That makes me want to shout! Wow! If only we would believe! If only we would receive!

The Scripture goes on to say that we are God’s workmanship. When you study the word workmanship in its original language, you will see that it means that we are his masterpiece – that which defines him. Yes – you are God’s masterpiece! Do you realize that you are God’s inheritance? Do you know that you are what defines his value? That is why Jesus said, “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18

Thank you, Lord! Jesus is building his church! God is serious about you and me! My heart goes out to the body of Christ today! It is time for us to step into…
