WHAT DO PEOPLE DO TO KNOW GOD?

The most significant endeavor of my life is to be intimate with God. I know that the only way to truly love life and fulfill one’s purpose is to be intimate with God. There is nothing more important or more valuable!

Though apostle Paul had a lot of revelation and some powerful experiences with God, he said, “7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. 10 I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection of the dead.” Philippians 3:7-11

People pursue what they think is most valuable or what will give them the greatest fulfillment. Apostle Paul knew that the answer to life for all humanity was wrapped up in knowing God. A person who finds a profound source of satisfaction finds it difficult not to tell everyone about it. Most of the time, you can meet someone you’ve never known, and within a few minutes, you will find out what their real passion in life is. They will soon start talking about their true love because it’s hard not to talk about what makes you love life.

Similarly, the secret to evangelism is to be so enthralled with God that you can’t help talking about him. When you know that you have the cure to humanity’s ailments, there is something that rises up in you that makes you want to give it away! Yes! God wants you to be so overcome with his love that you join God’s great mission of saving the world.

Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The Scripture above is known as the great commission. God has entrusted us with the mission of releasing the gospel to the world. The only way God can touch this world is through you and me. Jesus received authority and power by the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38). That same authority is available to you and me today through the same Holy Spirit. One of the greatest evangelists in history, Reinhardt Bonkee, said, “Make the great commission your great ambition.”

People who are intimate with God are those who know God. Those who know God are those who are genuinely impacted by God’s amazing love and grace. Those who are impacted by God’s love and grace can’t help talking about it, and this is how God will…
