Entertain Your Guest
From most people, the choice to entertain special guests includes special preparation. Most will make sure that their housekeeping is on point and everything is tidy. Why do we do that? Making the extra effort to get our house clean and tidy speaks of how we honor and value those we entertain.
As a born-again believer, do you realize that you are entertaining an extraordinarily special guest? The Bible says that you are God’s house and that he lives in you.
Hebrews 3:6 But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ. NLT
Becoming a person who houses God requires full surrender to the provision of God for our righteousness through Jesus Christ, and the only way to keep your house clean and tidy is to confidently hold fast to the love and grace granted you through that provision. Remember, “It is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” Phil 2:13 NIV
If God began the good work in you, he will surely carry it on to completion! It is God’s great pleasure and passion to fulfill his great purpose in your life! It is going to get done, and it will be God who does it, in and through you!
Philippians 1:6 being confident of this that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. NIV
Hallelujah! This takes all the pressure off of you! When we trust in our works to be right with God, we bring a curse upon ourselves.
Gal 3:10-13 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” Clearly, no one who relies on the law is justified before God because “the righteous will live by faith.” The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.” Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”
How incredibly beautiful! Do you recognize how valuable you are? Jesus became a curse for you and me! Wow! Let that soak in! Jesus took our punishment so that we could have his blessing! God’s love for you was so intense that he gave his only Son to be tortured on a cruel cross so that you could be reconciled to him. – This is hard to fathom and overwhelming!
Remember, you are housing and an extraordinarily precious guest – God! Do you remember how to keep your house clean and tidy for him? The only way to keep your house clean and tidy is to confidently hold fast to your perfect standing with Him granted to you through the sacrifice of Jesus. Yes! Complete surrender to the love and grace of God is how you can honor and value God, the Holy Spirit within you.
There is no better moment than right now to completely relinquish all trust in your ability to be right with God and wholly lean upon God’s provision for you! Let your body, soul, and spirit be entirely given over to resting in God’s abundant grace! Oh, my dear friend, if you will, I can assure you that your house will indeed be tidy and ready to…
