The Perfect Resistance
Are you aware that resistance is what causes things to grow? A great trainer knows how to help a young bodybuilder have the proper resistance to bring about the most significant increase. Similarly, your heavenly Father knows the perfect amount of resistance to cause your spiritual life to have the greatest increase! When you face trying times, do you trust in your eternal Father’s ability to make a way for you? I love the endearing words of the Bible that call us to use the word Daddy when we speak to God.
Romans 8:15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him, we cry, “Abba, Father.”
The word Abba means daddy. Our eternal Daddy is a loving Father who wants us to know that we can trust him completely. Though he speaks to us in many ways, are you aware that He speaks to us through discipline or trials? Sometimes when we go through difficult circumstances, we don’t understand why. God allows trying times to bring about the perfect resistance necessary for our faith to grow. As our faith grows, we step into the abundant, exciting life that causes us to fulfill our purpose.
Deut 8:5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the LORD your God disciplines you.
Hebrews 12:5-11 And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.” Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are illegitimate children and not true sons. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us, and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best, but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
God longs for us to have more and more of the abundant life that faith produces! We know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 If you’re going through difficult times right now, consider that maybe God is calling you to a higher level and wants you to experience more of his abundant life. Apostle Peter said, “These (trials) have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1Pe 1:7-9
The trials or temptations you and I face are for our good and are never beyond our ability to handle. (1Cor 10:13) Indeed, the trials you are currently facing may be the announcement of your impending life promotion! When you are going through challenging times, it is of utmost importance to hold fast to the fact that God loves you more than anything and has designed the perfect resistance to cause you to experience more of heaven’s amazing life. If you will accept this truth without reservation, you will have the courage to embrace the rocky road you’re facing and press ahead with confidence.
No matter what you’re facing, you can be entirely confident that God will make it all turn out for your good! Because I am convinced of his never-ending love for you, I can assure you that he knows…
