Let It Go

Sometimes the most destructive things are offered to you in the most appealing ways. One of the most damaging of those is bitterness. It usually comes on what seems like an elegant silver platter that summons passionate desire. It generally presents itself at the most opportune times affording you the perfect opportunity to be sucked into its destructive grip. At these times, we need to see a bigger picture, the picture that God sees. This is what the Bible calls wisdom.

Prov 19:11  A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

Ephesians 4:31-32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling, and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you.

Hebrews 12:15 15  See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

Bitterness is a severely destructive force that damages the person who has been trapped by it! Bitterness is highly deceitful because it surmises that its bitterness hurts the person it is directed at when actually it destroys the person wielding it. It is like drinking deadly poison while thinking it is hurting the other person.

When we accept the love of God, it causes us to live in the wisdom of God, and the wisdom of God empowers us to overlook what has been done wrong to us. Living in bitterness hurts the one who is bitter and releases destructive powers that destroy their relationships, families, marriages, businesses, and even health.

The enemy is always preparing situations to bring about stagnation or even death to the prosperity God has planned for you. One of the most significant ways he does this is through offense and bitterness. The only way to escape its devastating power is to be filled with the love and grace of God. I often say that you can only give away what you possess. To the degree that you know you are loved, forgiven, and accepted by God is to the degree that you will have the power to forgive those who have done you wrong. Therefore, fully trusting in God’s payment for your righteousness through Jesus is paramount. This is where childlike faith is absolutely necessary!

Matthew 18:3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

A child doesn’t try to figure it all out; when daddy has said he would come home with ice cream, they just believe him. When you, with childlike faith, wholeheartedly accept your perfect standing with God, it is like putting up a super wall of protection around you. Yes, the enemy has no power over even the littlest person who knows who they are in God! Yes, the love of God gives you the power to overlook an offense and let it go! Because the nature of God is love and forgiveness, God is glorified when we forgive others!

Luke 6:27 “But to you who are listening, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.

Letting go of an offense is not only the wisest thing to do; it opens the door for God’s grace to empower you to live in the exciting future he has pre-ordained for you! May the grace and wisdom of God be upon you today! May you live the life of being completely loved and forgiven, and may you…
