Your Living Reality
God has granted you and me the most incredible privilege and ministry of all; reconciling the world to himself. More than ever before, the world needs to experience the reality of the love of God! Because of what’s going on in the world, people are gripped with fear and anxiety and need hope for the future. In Matthew chapter 9, when Jesus saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion and said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:37b-38
While Jesus was here on this earth, he gave us two very important things. The first was the great commandment which is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and your strength and to love your neighbor as yourself. Mark 12:31-32 The second was the great commission. Here’s what he said.
Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (ESV)
God is in love with this world and longs for them to be reconciled back to him. As God’s ambassadors to this world, you and I have the opportunity to be a part of his great purpose of love.
So what does it look like to be a minister or ambassador of Christ? What should we be doing to advance the gospel around the world? One of the ways is to do what the Scripture above says – go into all the world and make disciples of all nations by baptizing them and teaching them to observe what God has commanded. But there is also another way to make the reality of God’s love known to this world – take a look.
Matthew 25:37-40 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’“And the King will say,’ I tell you the truth when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ (NLT)
I believe that Jesus’ life is a prime example of what our lives should look like and what we should be doing. So, what did Jesus do? He loved and served people.
Matthew 28:26-28 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
The word of God tells us that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35 Because of the chaos in the world, I believe that now is the most opportune time in history to rise up as the body of Christ and be Jesus to our world! Because knowing and living in the love of God is the superpower to make a real difference in this world, it is of utmost importance that we focus our lives on receiving and living in it!
God has given us the unique privilege of loving and touching all those we will come in contact with today. I believe that there are many desperate people who are saying in their hearts, “Will the real God please stand.” You and I have the opportunity today to love someone, serve someone and empower someone with the love of Jesus! My dear friend, we are God’s ambassador to this world, and his love is the power to make a difference! Oh God, let your love, passion, and purpose overwhelm us so that we can be, to this world…
