It's Time to Run

Some say that timing is everything. Some investment opportunities have garnered remorseful words like these: I wish I would have – if only I had – etc. etc. So, yes, there are situations where timing is everything!

When we see all that is going on across the world, it is more convincing than ever that the end times are upon us. If there was ever a time to be living close to God, it is now!

Being tired is not an option when an athlete is getting ready to compete in an Olympic race. Likewise, prayerlessness is also not an option as we see biblical prophecy and the final moments of God’s timetable unfolding before our very eyes.

Before Jesus sealed the devil’s fate, procuring our eternal freedom, he was in the garden of Gethsemane, preparing to run the final leg of his race. At this epic moment in his life, prayer was not just important; it was the most essential thing on his agenda. During these final hours of Jesus’ life, he had implored his disciples also to pray, but they were sleepy and could not stay awake.

Mark 14:37-40  Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour?   Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”  Once more, he went away and prayed the same thing.  40  When he came back, he again found them sleeping because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him.

We are in the final hour of God’s purpose and the defining moments of our lives here on Earth. The apostle Peter said it like this: “The end of all things is near; therefore, be clear-minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.” 1 Peter 4:7 Yes, now is the time for the body of Christ to awake from its slumber and launch out into the place of power – communion with God! Billy Graham once said, “To get nations back on their feet, we must first get down on our knees.” Someone once said, “Much prayer, much power– More prayer, more power – No prayer, no power!”

To some, prayer could be just another religious work, but for those who genuinely want to know God, that precious and secret place will mean glorious, life-changing moments in God’s presence! It wasn’t a religious duty for Jesus when he often withdrew to lonely places to pray; it was his lifeblood! It is the same for you and me!

My dearest friend, the signs of the times are upon us, and it’s time to run our race! Our most exciting days are right ahead of us, and the prize is right up there in front of us – do you see it? Oh, yes! The baton has been handed to you and me and…
