It's up to You – Not God
In the beginning, God created us in his image and likeness. In doing so, God gave us the ability to accept or reject him. This power that God has given us makes us gods (little g) of our own destiny. This truth is made especially clear during Jesus’ life. At one point, the Jews were so angry that they wanted to stone Jesus because he called himself the Son of God, making himself equal with God. Jesus’ reply to their hateful accusations was powerful. Jesus, quoting Psalm 82, said, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are gods’? 35 If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and the Scripture cannot be broken— 36 what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son? John 10:34-36.
John Maxwell says, “We are either the masters or victims of our attitudes. It is a matter of personal choice. Who we are today is the result of the choices we made yesterday. Tomorrow, we will become what we choose today. To change means to choose change.
At the end of his life, Moses stood before the children of Israel and said, “This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Deuteronomy 30:19-20
Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28 are wholly devoted to declaring to the children of Israel that if they chose to obey God, he would bless them, but if they chose not to obey, they would be cursed.
After Jesus had fed the 5000 and had gone to the other side of the lake, the people found him and asked, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” 29Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” John 6:28-29
The work God now requires supersedes all the works of the law. The work God now requires is to believe in Jesus. It is so important to understand that only faith can cause a person to experience the life of God! This is where your choice becomes so powerful! Galatians 6:7, “Do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked. Whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.” Your future is up to you – not God! God has given you the power to choose your input and, therefore, your meditation and, thus, your choices! Your choices are a result of your input and thought-life.
This is why Solomon wrote, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23 NLT. This is why the writer of Hebrews warned that it was indeed possible to miss the rest and the grace of God.
Heb 4:1 “Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.
Hebrews 12:15 15 See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.
The incredible life of God is available to anyone! The Bible declares, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9. Repentance means to change your mind. God does not want anyone to miss his amazing life! He is in love with us and longs to give us everything that he is! The Scripture says, “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:32.
Please get a hold of the reality that your future is up to you. God has given you the authority to choose your input and meditation and, therefore, your choices – it is all up to you!
The importance of exercising your free will to choose the best cannot be overstated! God has given you the authority to choose your input, thoughts, and, therefore, your future! Yes, regarding your destiny, you can be sure that…
