Your Reason to Look Good

Have you ever felt tempted to try to impress people by how you look or dress? Wherever you go, there is almost always someone doing everything they can to get attention? I mean, they are dressed to kill and strut their stuff as if they’re all of that. Often these people are beautiful or handsome yet don’t feel secure. Consequently, they are willing to go to great lengths to feel like they have value or worth in the eyes of people they meet.

When we try to get our value or worth from people, it will certainly be a snare and, even more, a graphic disappointment! Worrying about what others think of us is what the Bible calls the fear of man. Look at what the wisest man that ever lived says about this.

Proverbs 29:25  Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.

Fear of man is dangerous and can even separate us from the beautiful life and purpose God has for us. Jesus spoke about the subject often – look at what he said.

John 5:41-44  “I do not accept praise from men, but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe if you accept praise from one another yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God?

John 12:41-43   Isaiah was referring to Jesus when he said this because he saw the future and spoke of the Messiah’s glory. Many people did believe in him, however, including some of the Jewish leaders. But they wouldn’t admit it for fear that the Pharisees would expel them from the synagogue, for they loved human praise more than the praise of God.

If we care what others think of us more than what God thinks of us, we put ourselves in the precarious place of never knowing the praise and power of God! When people worry about what others think of them, they put their faith in man’s opinion instead of God’s!

So what does God think of you? If you are humble enough to receive it, here it is… You are the love of God’s life – everything he has ever wanted and his dream come true! Yes! That is what I said! You are and always have been the longing and dream of God’s heart! Yes, my dear friend, you!

Please, if you find yourself needing attention, take a moment to ask God what he thinks about you! He is the true definition of “All of That” and is madly in love with you! In fact, you are so precious to him that he sacrificed his only Son to reconcile you to himself. Wow! He thinks you’re beautiful – you are perfect in his sight, and he wants to spend eternity showing you how much he loves you! It’s true – God wants to spend eternity lavishing his love upon you!

So, here’s my question for you today: Will you surrender to God’s love for you and let his opinion of you outweigh all other opinions? Will you choose today to let your dress, demeanor, and actions reflect the security of living in how he feels about you? My dear friend, as you go about your day today, may you let the safety and freedom of knowing what God thinks of you be…
