Full Of It

Have you had someone tell you that you are full of it? I sure have! When I think of being criticized like that, I just want to ensure that I am full of the right thing! When a person is full of the right thing, it causes great things to happen in and through their life.

Titles can be deceiving. As you may know, the one with the title isn’t always the one with the most influence or power within a company or organization. The Bible speaks of a man like this. The book of Acts tells of a man who never had a significant position or title, yet God did such amazing things through him that even great wonders and miraculous signs flowed through his life. Just as the religious people hated Jesus, so they hated this man and tried to shut him up. But, Stephen was so full of the Holy Spirit and spoke with such clarity and authority that those who opposed him could not stand up against his wisdom or the Spirit by whom he spoke.

Acts 6:8-10 NIV Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people. Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called) –Jews of Cyrene and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia and Asia. These men began to argue with Stephen, but they could not stand up against his wisdom or the Spirit by whom he spoke.

People often get caught up in titles or positions while missing the very purpose of their existence. Many years ago, God spoke to me and told me never to pursue a microphone, title, or position. Instead, he told me to seek his anointing and presence in my life. He made it clear that if intimacy with him were my highest goal, microphones, and positions of authority and responsibility would chase me, not me chase them.

Undoubtedly, titles are not near as important as intimacy with God and doing what he has called us to do! Those who pursue intimacy with God will be full of the Holy Spirit and anointed with his power!

After Jesus had died and was resurrected, he breathed on his disciples and said receive the Holy Spirit.

John 20:22 And with that he (Jesus) breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

Right after this, he told them to wait in Jerusalem until they were endued with power from on high.

Luke 24:49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised, but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

They knew exactly what he meant when he said to “wait” because they went to Jerusalem and stayed in constant prayer in the upper room.

Acts 1:14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

After several days, God poured the Holy Spirit out upon his disciples, and the church began to explode! As you know, the presence and power of the Holy Spirit causes people’s lives to be changed and the kingdom of God to forcefully advance.

We must never get the cart before the horse! The church’s greatest need is not more people – No! It’s greatest need is to be filled to overflowing with the presence and power of the Holy Spirit! This will create true salvation and transformation! Somebody once said, “We do not need more men in the church of God – we need more of God and the men of the church.” How true this is!

Over the years, I’ve had many people say I was full of it – and not always for the right reason. We should never worry about what people say because they are not the answer to our lives or purpose, but when it comes to the Holy Spirit and his anointing, I would most definitely want to be known as one who is…
