The more I understand how intensely God loves me, the more I find myself growing deeper and deeper in love with him! The ability to genuinely love God from the heart is a natural byproduct of receiving the revelation of his love. The book of Psalms is filled with Scriptures of those who were so touched by the love of God that it caused them to reciprocate that love back to him. Here is a couple of them.

Psalm 42:1 As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs after you, oh God. Psalm 63:1 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Psalm 84:2 My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

So, what makes a person have that kind of passion for God? Why would somebody be so desperate to go deep with God? The answer can be found in the word revelation. Those who begin to grasp the immense love God has for them, as displayed in the sacrifice of his son, are those who cannot help but love him back! The experience of God’s love is so great that all else pales in comparison! To know and experience God is something that is not only unexplainable but inexpressible. Apostle Peter talked about the extraordinary life available for those who will believe God – here is what he said.

1 Peter 1:8-9 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

The salvation of our souls is the salvation of our mind, will, and emotions. Jesus came to give us the very life of heaven, for he told us to pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10 Jesus said, “I have come that they might have life and have it to its fullest. John 10:10b Yes! God wants you to experience the life of heaven! The life of heaven can be summed up in the word love – love to the nth degree – love that is so beautiful that it is beyond explanation! That is why Peter said it produces an inexpressible and glorious joy.

My dear friend, there are no words to accurately describe the glorious experience of deeply receiving God’s good opinion and boundless love! The world is longing for this love, but most have no idea how close it is to them.

God loves you more than you will ever be able to fully comprehend. If you can receive it, you are the single greatest longing and passion of God’s heart!
