Have you heard the saying, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know?” This statement may not be accurate in all circumstances, but in the case of authentic Christianity, it is indeed true! As you will see in the following story, those who truly know God have a distinct advantage over those who do not.

Acts 19:13-17  Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.”  14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 [One day], the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus, I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?” 16 Then, the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding. 17 When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.

Neither Jesus nor Apostle Paul was known for the size and power of their physical stature, but in the spiritual world, they were notably famous. The devil is seriously intimidated by those who genuinely “know” God, those who live by faith! Just being near Jesus or seeing him from afar often caused demons to cry out in fear, causing their subjects to come and bow at his feet. (See Luke 8:26-39)

The beauty and power of genuine Christianity is not knowing about God; it is knowing him! Faith alone taps a person into God’s glorious life and power.

Romans 1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you because your faith is being reported all over the world.

I am sure you are convinced that God knows who you are, but does the devil know who you are? Having power over demons is definitely not about physical size but spiritual size. A young, petite girl who knows who she is in Christ can cause powerful demons to run in stark terror because of the authority of heaven she wields. Yes, those who operate in the faith of God are greatly feared in the ranks of the demonic realm, and their names draw great respect even from Satan himself.

Spiritual prowess is not something you work up through willpower or religious acts – this is accessed only through faith alone! In light of this, it is essential to remember that faith comes from the word of God.

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by and hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Those who devote themselves to keeping their mind upon God’s precious thoughts towards them as declared in the word of God are those who end up receiving the transforming power of its revelation. The most exciting life possible on this side of heaven is the life of faith! Faith not only causes a person to experience the abundant life Jesus came to give us but enables them to carry out the purposes of heaven!

My dearest friend, God is calling you and me to this wonderful and powerful life of faith! Now, more than ever, the world needs to see a display of the true and living God! As I pray for you today, I’m asking God to enable you to receive more than ever the truths of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. I am praying that your faith in God will be reported not only by people but in the spiritual realm so that the devil could never say regarding you…
