Selfless Jealousy

Could there be such a thing as good jealousy? Have you ever thought about God being jealous? Even to mention the thought seems almost to indict God of sin. But to answer the question, “Could God be jealous,” the answer is yes. Would God, therefore, be committing sin? No! Nothing could be farther from the truth! The jealousy of God has nothing to do with selfish or prideful gain; God’s jealousy is all about us being able to access him and his glory!

Exodus 34:14 You must worship no other gods, for the Lord, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you.

The jealousy of God is not like the jealousy of man; God’s jealousy is entirely self-less! God’s jealousy is focused on what he can give to us, not what he can get from us. God is longing for us to experience the prosperity of his person and the beauty of all he is! You see, God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever would believe in him would not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16  

The love God has for you did not begin when you chose him or when you decided to go to church, or even when you determined to do what’s right! On the contrary, God loved you when you did not love, pursue, or even want him!

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Jeremiah 31:3 NIV  The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.

All along, God has passionately loved you! Not a second goes by that you are not at the forefront of his mind! Oh, yes – you are everything he has ever wanted! God’s jealousy for you is about blessing you with all that he is!

I am praying today that you will trust him more than yesterday, living in his incredible love for you as never before! I am praying that you would see more clearly than ever that you are at the center of God’s heart! Oh, yes!
