Some people think because one has a fancy title or is a well-known figure in the Christian community that God uses them. However, this is not true. There were much higher callings during the days of Jesus than being a shepherd! But it was to shepherds that he would reveal his world-changing, eternal plan. When God is getting ready to do something great, he doesn't look for people with fancy titles or popularity. He often chooses the lowest of the low to fulfill his world-changing, eternal purposes. It doesn't matter what your financial or social status is, how short or tall, big or small you are. God is looking for those who are yielded to him and willing to have his eternal purposes flow through them!

The proclamation of the Scriptures is that he is so in love with you that he sent his only son to pay for all of your failures and mistakes! Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, he sees you as absolutely perfect! He is so passionately in love with you that he sees you as his dream come true! You are his heart’s greatest desire!

While they were talking, Jesus told Nicodemus the secret that would unlock the supernatural life that he was longing for. Jesus explained that he would have to give up the one thing that held power to keep him from the life of heaven. After Nicodemus heard Jesus’ words, he was distraught and left Jesus’ presence very sad. Is there anything that comes between you and God? Is there anything more important to you and your relationship with your Eternal Father? What makes you sad? Hopefully, not what made this guy sad!

We want to be in control of our own lives and struggle to submit to any leadership. This is why it makes it so difficult for people to step into a life of true freedom from fear. Trusting in self is the life of fear. Trusting in God is a life of peace and rest. There is a part of us that, because of our fallen, independent nature, wants to feel like we have the ability to offer God something that would give him the right to accept us. This is why Jesus said, “Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Mt 18:3 In another place, Jesus said, “It is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you; it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Mt 19:23-24
