Do you know how big your inheritance is? Do you know all that is yours? Your great, great, great, great (etc.) grandfather, Abraham, had a covenant made with him that seriously affects you and your future!

Gal 3:13-14 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

So we see here that the blessing given to Abraham was the promise of the Holy Spirit. But there is more to it than just that! It is not only a promise of the Holy Spirit but actually includes multiple promises – seven to be exact! And this promise was not intended for the Jews only but also for us Gentiles who, at one time, were far away from Christ. Apostle Paul explains more on this subject here in Ephesians.

Eph 2:12-13 In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.

Apostle Paul also said, "A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man’s praise is not from men, but from God.” (Rom 2:28-29)

So, the promise God gave to Abraham is not for the Jews only, but also for the Gentiles who have been united with Christ Jesus through circumcision of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, as the children of Abraham, we also can lay claim to the covenant made with him by God. It is not only a promise (singular) – it is the promises that were given to Abraham – all of them! Here they are:

Gen 12:2-3 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”

1. I will make you into a great nation

2. I will bless you

3. I will make you famous

4. You will be a blessing to others

5. I will bless those who bless you

6. I will curse those curse you

7. All families( or nations) on the earth will be blessed through you

So what did Abraham have to do to receive all these blessings? Here’s what he did, and here is exactly what you and I must do.

Rom 4:17 That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, “I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because Abraham believedin the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing.

Abraham tapped into the promises and therefore the blessings of God because he simply believed God. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that it is impossible to please God without faith. Why? Because faith is the only way we can connect with God and all that he longs to bless us with! This is powerful! Do you see it? You have a huge inheritance that is yours…
