Mat 14:26-28 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid." "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." "Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
Peter knew that it was Jesus – he recognized his voice, Jn 10:3-2, He stepped out of the boat and walked on the water, defying human reasoning and the natural laws of gravity! How did he do this? First, he heard and believed the voice of Jesus – second, fixing his total focus on him, he obeyed. To do the powerful works of God, we must first hear his voice, believe it, focus intensely on it, and then do what he said.
