ASK & RECEIVE

To make a muscle grow, you put it under strain and stress. I think this is the part of life that many have a difficult time coming to grips with. Some say it like this, “no pain, no gain.” God set up life in such a way so that a significant increase only happens through tests and trials. Faith is like a muscle; it must go through testing to come to its fullness. Sometimes when you are in the middle of a trial, life is confusing, and knowing what to do next is not so apparent. What should you do in those situations? Apostle James gives us some great advice in the following verse.

James 1:5-8 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

When God says something, his opinion should be the only one that counts! Having more than one opinion (What God has said and a good idea) is being what apostle James calls double-minded. When God says something, we must believe him! We must not allow there to be any other option!

Sometimes people don’t receive from God because they don’t ask, or they ask with wrong motives. Apostle James also tells us that, “We have not because we ask not or we ask with wrong motives.” Ja 4:3 What would a wrong motive be? A wrong motive would be trying to get God to give me something from this world that would somehow make me feel like I have value and purpose. This is a wrong motive because value and purpose can only come from God himself.

In light of these thoughts, please don’t ever forget this most important point. When you ask God, you must believe! Believing is the key that unlocks the door to the blessing that God longs to give you! This is why the word of God tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. Heb 11:6

God is in love with you! You are the central focus of his existence! Because of this, you can be assured that God has great plans for you and has done everything possible so that you can step into those plans!

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7
