The Key of Visualization

One of the great keys to a life of significance is the key of visualization. How you view life or visualize your future determines where you’re going in life. Your view of life is how you see life. Your view comes from what you believe about yourself and your future. I can assure you that no matter where you are or what you’ve gone through, God has a plan for your life!

God desires that you would prosper, and that’s why he longs for you to believe him.

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith, it is impossible to please God. For those who come to him must believe that he is and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Many feel that there is a lid on their life, and they can’t go any higher. But the truth is, the only lid on our lives is the lid of what we believe and think. It is not our circumstances that determine our success; it is our thinking.

In the book of Judges, there is a powerful story about a man named Jephthah. His father’s name was Gilead; his mother was a prostitute. His father had other sons, and when they grew up, they drove Jephthah out of the land. Probably as a young boy, he was mistreated because his mother was a prostitute. Jephthah had every reason to be depressed, bitter, and angry, but based on the Scriptures, we see that Jephthah believed God and knew how to call upon his name. Instead of becoming weak, Jephthah became a mighty warrior.

Later in life, the Ammonites made war with Israel because Israel had taken over their land 300 years prior. During this time, Jephthah’s brothers begged him to come and help them fight the Ammonites because they knew that Jephthah was a mighty warrior. Here is their conversation.

Judges 11:7-11  Didn’t you hate me and drive me from my father’s house? Why do you come to me now when you’re in trouble?” 8 The elders of Gilead said to him, “Nevertheless, we are turning to you now; come with us to fight the Ammonites, and you will be our head over all who live in Gilead.” 9 Jephthah answered, “Suppose you take me back to fight the Ammonites and the LORD gives them to me—will I really be your head?” 10 The elders of Gilead replied, “The LORD is our witness; we will certainly do as you say.” 11 So Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and commander over them. And he repeated all his words before the LORD in Mizpah.

Do you see that? Jephthah repeated all his words before the LORD in Mizpah. Yes, Jephthah believed God! At this point, Jephthah tried to reason with the ammonites to help them understand that it was God who had given them the land. But the Ammonites refused to listen to Jephthah and proceeded to go to war with Israel. At this moment, the Bible says, “Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah.” Judges 11:29.

I love that statement – “Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah.” When God shows up in your life because you have chosen to believe him, powerful things begin to happen!

Jephthah made a vow of sacrifice to the Lord and promised God that if he gave them victory over the Ammonites, he would sacrifice as a burnt offering to him whatever came out of his house when he returned home. God gave the Ammonites into the hands of Jephthah and the Israelite army, and they were defeated that day.

Though the story is sad because of the vow he had made, which resulted in the sacrifice of his only child, a daughter, it is also very powerful because of the faith of Jephthah. After being rejected even from a young age, you would have thought that he would have no faith for his future, but the opposite was true.

No matter where you are in life, your faith or your view of life will determine how high you can go. Jephthah trusted God and became a mighty warrior and a great leader. Jesus said, “To him who believes, all things are possible.” Mark 9:23. The way you view yourself and your future will let you know where your future is headed. It is critical that we believe God and choose to think about our future from his point of view. If you decide to set your mind on what he says about you, you will see your life heading toward his success, and this is the power found in…
