Increase Is on the Way
I find it most fascinating how the hard things or the places that make us have to sacrifice the most bring about the most significant increase in our lives.! It is often said, “no pain - no gain.”
Acts 13:2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
Why is it that when they were fasting that God spoke to them? Wouldn’t it seem more convenient to be feasting and have God speak? Why do we have to work out to get physically fit or monitor our diet to get healthy? God, in His infinite wisdom, set it up so that sacrifice would always be a part of the equation if we wanted more. Apostle Paul understood this concept all too well, and here’s what he said.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
I am always trusting God to ensure that these Encouraging Notes are, by His direction, released at the right time and in the right season for those reading! I believe God is trying to speak something to us today! I believe God is calling you and me to a life that is more empowered by his Spirit than ever before!
Do you find yourself longing for deeper communion with God? Do you want to hear his voice more clearly than ever before? Are you willing to obey when God speaks? Now here’s the big question – are you ready to do what is uncomfortable?
God allows trials in your life to cause your faith to become genuine. Why? Because only faith can tap you into the glorious life that’s available through Christ!
1 Peter 1:7-9 These (trials) have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
God wants you to experience the crazy amazing life of inexpressible and glorious joy that is made possible through the trying of your faith. David said, “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” Psalm 23:4. David was convinced that God loved him and was for him! Are you convinced? There’s nobody who deserves God, so don’t even go there! Will you, with childlike faith, receive who God says you are? The more you are convinced of God’s love for you and the abundance of his grace available for your life, the more you will step into the glorious life that is inexpressible and full of glory!
My dear friend, is God speaking to you right now? Perhaps he is calling you to let go some things that have only been a distraction, keeping you from your real purpose. Maybe it’s time to focus more on Him and his purpose for your life than ever before. Do you think God could be calling you to set aside a meal or two so you can spend that time with Him.
