God's Children Are Praying

Not long after the inception of the church on the day of Pentecost, persecution broke out against the Christians. King Herod had killed Apostle James and intended to do the same to Peter.

Acts 12:5-11 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. 6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists. 8 Then the angel said to him, “Put on your clothes and sandals.” And Peter did so. “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,” the angel told him. 9 Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision. 10 They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him. 11 Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were anticipating.”

Wow – the power of prayer! Without a doubt, great things can happen when God’s people pray! I believe God shows up when we get serious and, through prayer, declare the purposes of heaven! I am certain that God wants to do great things but needs those who will pray faith-filled prayers. “Much prayer, much power – More prayer, more power – No prayer, no power.”

When people are willing to come together in unity, not only will God command a blessing, but special promises are activated.

Psalm 133:1-3  How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! 2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down upon the collar of his robes. 3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there, the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

Matthew 18:19-20  “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Is prayer important to you? Do you make time to join with others in prayer? The body of Christ needs you to take your stand as one of those who invoke the purposes of heaven upon our hurting world through prayer!

In a world full of chaos, trauma, and pain, God is not left without recourse! God has a secret weapon up his sleeve that the devil is terrified of – the prayers of His passionate, faith-filled church! You can be sure that revival is on God’s mind, and now is the time he is wooing his bride into that secret place of prayer where the purposes of the kingdom of heaven are released on earth!

Just like in the days of the early church, the world is filled with chaos and trauma, but in the midst of all that’s going on, God is on the move. The bride of Christ will not leave this earth beat up, busted, and disgusted! No! The bride of Christ will leave this earth as His triumphant church filled with his glory! I don’t know about you, but I can almost hear and feel the rumblings of revival! Oh, yes…
